4 Ways to Harness Your Most Valuable Entrepreneurial Asset

Of course hard work, focused meetings, well-crafted business plans and capital get associated with entrepreneurs and the entrepreneurial. Ask someone to talk about entrepreneurship and one of these surely makes the list.

However, after 25 years in the "industry," I now think these typical assets correlate to believing the golden egg holds more value than the goose that laid them. Good, but not what matters most.

However, after 25 years in the "industry," I now think these typical assets correlate to believing the golden egg holds more value than the goose that laid them. Good, but not what matters most.

I have no doubt your most important asset as an entrepreneur is NOT your check size, bank account nor even your late nights at the office. Instead, it comes from the care and nurture of your own soul.

The most important asset an entrepreneur has to work with and care for... it's their own personal inspiration.

Take away a deep desire to create, persevere, solve problems and have the chutzpah to sell your vision, ideas or products and you don't have much.

You want to be an entrepreneur? Then you've GOT to care enough to do something! You've got to care. You've got to flex. You've got to to act.

In very last sentence of their groundbreaking book, Rework, authors Jason Fried and David Heinemeir Hansson wrote, "Inspiration is a now thing. So go do something!"

Interpretation: Your motivation matters! It really, really matters!

AND you can't wait until you have all the answers, fit it into the plan, and have full assurance it'll work! Don't wait! Don't be so careful that you allow your inspiration to fade like the sunset. If you see it and care about it do it!

If you're an entrepreneur, the best way to manage your time is to ALSO manage your inspiration. Care for your creative self and your own courage. When a vision strikes, you may just need to take a next step. Try it. See what happens. Float it out there.

How many seasoned entrepreneurs will tell you, "We didn't have all the answers! Our business plan was flawed! We were just inspired to act!" Often, it's because they see a problem that affects them or others they care about... THEN they do something. Some thoughts.

Could even be connecting with God Himself!
