Some say they never dreamed.
Some mock others for dreaming.
Some see dreams as foolish, irrelevant and unrelated to the challenges of modern life.
Some don't have time to even think of that "stuff" (and will never be caught dead reading this post!)
“Without a deep and burning desire of your own, we will be ruled by the desires of others.” wrote John Eldredge in his book, The Journey of Desire.
Yes, if you desire and dream, you risk the pain of not seeing your desires come to pass. You risk planting seeds but seeing no fruit. You risk looking like the fool waiting for the Great Pumpkin. But, ask yourself, "Is the alternative better?" Is to just go on living and never really desire much, if anything, really living? Desiring real joy. Desiring to make a real difference. Desiring intimacy. Desiring to know God.
As David prayed in Psalm 20:4 “May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.”
