Harry has the relax gear as part of his life repertoire.
As I write, Harry lies at my feet, eyes wide open staring blankly at the piano bench. Body fully relaxed. No movement detectable. Is that a rug or a dog?
What's going through Harry's mind? Well... um... nothing. He's not wondering, worrying or restless. He's not pondering his to-do list, figuring out his relationships, rehearsing his next sales pitch, nor fixing his portfolio, his career or his image. Harry's just hanging out. Tennis ball safely secured at his side.
Lord, help me be more like Harry.
Sure, we both realize Harry knows where his next bowl of Dog Chow's coming from. So he doesn't worry saying, "What shall I eat?" or "What shall I drink?" or "What shall I wear?" For people run after all these things and his good master knows that he needs them. (Hmmm.. feels like I've heard that somewhere?)
So why worry when you can stare at the piano bench? Just relax. Let it all go. Don't waste energy by tensing your stomach, locking your jaw, clenching your paws.
Instead, rest. Enjoy the good gift of a soft carpet, a roof above your head and a cat that needs to be chased and put back in her place.
Life is good. Relax and enjoy it today.
