I'm one of those people who can drive for hours and not realize my radio has been operating at some between stations frequency. "Staticky" sometimes music plays as I drive. Annoying to those who appreciate good quality music? Yes!
Some call me "clueless," and the title would be quite well deserved when it comes to music, tune, key and sound.
There's a better frequency. Why not do something and tune that thing in? And, if you asked that to the musically oblivious me - you would have a good point. It's where we get the word, "staticky." My sons would call it...
A waste of good music
Most would prefer to tune in good music... especially if it was great music! "Move that dial, will ya?"
When it comes to our life calling (what I'm supposed to do with my life) and even our vocational calling (what work will I do in my life) THE MAJORITY of people still settle for "untuned"
I know this both from countless stories of real people who share their struggle. I know this from countless statistics that say that most people feel disengaged from their work.
71% of workers are “not engaged” or “actively disengaged” from their work.*
only 13 percent of employees are "engaged" in their jobs, or emotionally invested*
Yes. So, how? Is it even possible to know? How do I know?
So, knowing I may be grossly oversimplifying this journey, I want to share 4 keys to tune in your calling. (or help your spouse, employee, children etc...) These at least give 4 ways to measure "Am I tuned in this area?" Or if you're in transition, "How can I be sure the next phase is in tune?"
"Maybe I care about this so deeply for a purpose."
"Maybe what bugs me is a clue to my calling."
"Maybe the pain I've experienced has actually prepared me to help others avoid such pain."
Your passion unleashed will change the world... starting with your world.
Generalists are good.. however, in a world of limits, we can't be good at everything. We can't master every skill. BUT - we can master some. Which skills should you master? What are your proficiencies?
Be great in a few! Let others pick up the slack.
God is our provider ... AND ... He provides when we utilize our skill and proficiencies. Money tends to flow to those who provide value and meet needs.
Or you provide by doing one skill --- to be able to give away another in your passion.
How might you tune in to your calling through noticing provision? Need? Those wanting/willing to pay?
Might the God who created you have a plan for how you invest your life? YES!
God, the One who created you, might, OK, does have a will and a plan for your life. He is the "Caller" behind your "calling." He is the one who is at work in this world who cares MOST about what happens and doesn't.
Where is God calling you?
Where is He at work ALREADY around you and possibly inviting you and me to join in HIS work?
Now, consider -take away any one of those Passion - Proficiency - Provision - Prayer and you're missing something very valuable.
However- add all 4 and tune those in .. you get an incredible life and a vibrant impact. Abundance. On fire.
This journey of tuning in calling is at this point, still a road less traveled. There may be a cost...at least in the short term. But, why would you settle for any lesser journeyI'm one of those people who can drive for hours and not realize my radio has been operating at some between stations frequency.
