Of course! There really are crazy people out there? No doubt.
Some are even “irresponsible,” “not living in the real world,” and “naïve to the way things work.” Definitley.
But, sometimes those with entrepreneurial ideas or visions are labeled…. You got it.. “Crazy.”
“You’re not really going to quit your job, are you?”
Family and friends wonder what’s wrong with “just being an employee” or why “ you just have a real job?” or “why would you do THAT at your age?” Hmmmmm.
I’ve had ideas that others labeled “crazy.” Have you?
And... I’ve started organizations that others would never start, written published books that others would never create, created businesses that others would never start and even founded a church in a place where the celebrated religious leader told me was “This city is just too spiritually dry. The ground’s too hard.”
And… I’ve wondered where the money for bills would come from, hosted a “major concert” that less than 25 people attended , seen some of my books on sale for a cent, and asked God, “Am I just crazy?”
Do you get the tension?
So, a few questions:
1. Is being an entrepreneur and being “crazy” something that goes together?
2. Is there a way to know when “crazy” is just too plain crazy or even irresponsible?
3. Can we use the “crazy” for good instead of hurting ourselves and others? (even lower the risk of our crazy entrepreneurial spirit?)
Steve Jobs famously said, “The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.”
I think he’s right! Do you?
So, then what might you do with your “crazy entrepreneurial spirit?”
Even if that “crazy idea” is something God has put in your heart to help change the world. To advance His work in the world? To meet real needs in your community?
But what do you do next? How do you get started? What are the obstacles to look out for? What do you need most?
My long-time friend and fellow serial entrepreneur, Gregg Stutts and I will be hosting a live training called, “When Others Think You’re Crazy…what to do with your entrepreneurial dream.” REGISTER
We’ll also be starting a “Entrepreneurs with a Purpose” Mastermind Group. What’s that?
A Mastermind Group offers education, accountability, encouragement and support to help you see your idea become reality. It will help you get better personally and professionally. It will help you win not only in your business, but at home. True success is measured by both.
The applications for it are already way beyond what we expected and we will limit the group to the appropriate size … so there may be a waiting list.
