In her book, Lean In, Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook, shares a story worth sharing with you.... especially if you're heading for a job interview any time in the next 5 years.
Sandberg says that when Lori Goler, senior director of marketing from eBay, called her seeking a position at Facebook she said, "I thought about calling you and telling you all of the things I'm good at and all of the things I like to do. Then I figured that everyone was doing that. So instead, I wanted to ask you:
Upon hearing this, Sandberg's response: "My jaw hit the floor. I had hired thousands of people over the previous decade and no one had ever said anything remotely like that." She called it a "killer approach!"What is your biggest problem, and how can I solve it?"
Wow! One Jaw Dropping question can make all the difference!
What if... just what if.... you were to try that approach next time you're in an interview?
...not only because it's "jaw-dropping!" But because it's about serving their need!
