ometimes progress seems like it comes to a grinding halt. What's up with that?
Even the super-saints of days of old got caught up and lost their way. Did they need to be challenged? Yep.
Frankly, I may be expert on this subject of progress feeling impossible for reasons that I tend to have big dreams - big hopes - then hit snag after snag...after snag.
But, I do have something to say anyway. And so I share this for me.. and if it can encourage you - awesome.
Feeling the lack of progress may mean you're at least alive.
It's easy to see the outcomes of our heroes and think that each and every day was up and to the right. We tend to forget that even when we're gifted AND passionate about things, great things require time, energy, rejections, dead ends and details.
A dream for something may require our willingness of fully loving the "getting there" as well as the "being there." Someday, we may look back and realize these days of "not yet" were some of the best days of our lives. (Probably true, right?)
Sure, it would be great if every day was the big game. However, we know that our big game wouldn't be so great if that were case.
Aristotle said, “For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them."
The one thing we can do today IS progress. Glamorous? Nope.
All in all, it's the things we do now with love, hope and care that add up. The little things. The baby steps. The best I got to give today.
