The 3 People You Must Know to Succeed in Business

BizYou've certainly heard the line, "In business, it's not what you know that matters, it's WHO you know."

Very true, but maybe not in the way most people think about it.

In a world where 96% of businesses fail within just 10 years, there's actually a business edge that can make all the difference.  It involves knowing, really knowing these three "people."

1. God

It says in Psalm 127:1-2 "Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. In vain you rise up early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat..."

In other words, God will make the way open in incredible ways when He builds HIS house. For those who don't... its pretty much in vain.  And vain defined means "producing no result; useless."

Knowing God and seeking God's direction for our work and business is not simply a nice thing to do for the religious types, ministers and missionaries... it's vital for all of us! Continually seeking God's leadings, perspective and leadership of our business life makes it His business and gives meaning to ours!

  • Do you know God?

  • Do you know what God wants for your business?

  • What are you doing to get to know what God wants?

2. Yourself.

It's no longer seen as "just the soft stuff" in business for leaders to know who they really are and intentionally grow emotionally, spiritually and in wisdom.  Who you are influences your clients, employees and makes or breaks a culture.

Look and see that 360 degree feedback has become a mainstay of consulting and note the  booming market for leadership development.  Leaders who know how to best show up as them fully and functionally create cultures, sales and businesses that develop along with them.  How many more studies do we need to show us that what we project authentically creates - OR - destroys?

  • Do you now who you really are?

  • Do you know what you do best and what you need to say no to?

3. Your Ideal Client

Sure, you know your product, but most business leaders know their products.  The one's who do the extraordinary things know, really know, their ideal client.  They know what they MOST want, what they REALLY think and what they LACK in their own lives and businesses.

Apple knew computers, but they ALSO realized that what their ideal client wanted was more than a computer.  It was ways to easily access information, music, and communications whether they were on the train or out for a run.

  • What does your ideal client need most?

  •  What do they want most?

  • What keeps them awake at night?

REALLY know those three and you will create the businesses that changes the world for great good.
