One of the most valuable things we have to offer rarely, if ever, shows up on a resume... in fact, as I've learned, most people hardly even know exactly what they have. Most can't define it.
Yet, getting clear on it may be what changes your life, career, writing, vision, coaching, parenting. Knowing this may change everything!
It's this: your personal hero's journey.
That's right. You may have overlooked the most valuable thing you have to offer our world simply because you
Are embarrassed about it
Didn't see it as valuable
Never took the time to define it
Thought it was typical and nothing special
Much in literature has been written on this idea of a hero's journey, first full articulated by 20th century author Joseph Campbelland detailed the various stages that great myths and heroic journeys have in common. In his work, The Hero with a Thousand Faceshe wrote
A hero ventures forth from the world of common day into a region of supernatural wonder: fabulous forces are there encountered and a decisive victory is won: the hero comes back from this mysterious adventure with the power to bestow boons on his fellow man.[3]
"And?" you ask. That has WHAT to do with you and your most compelling contribution or what you have to share with the rest of us?
Your personal hero's journey (or journeys) includes the exact elements that you can share with the rest of us... what we need from you!
Consider these (my own super-simplified version of the process) in your own story (best case, in a journal)
