Bombarded by a whole bunch of options? My guess, you have no lack of "vital" things to consider, do or implement today. On any given day I show up at my office and think, "Oh, I should answer e-mails, call clients, check portfolios, catch up with the 'important news,' study trends, work on planning, work on work, work out...." You get my point? I can only imagine your stream of stuff as well.
In the middle of it, I admit, I love all the social media, Facebook, blogs, Twitter, constant stream of economic and market news. But, I sometimes feel like "roadkill on the information superhighway!" I wonder, "Do I really need to do this? Is this important? Urgent? Vital?"
OR is this a DISTRACTION???
One of the most insidious problems our modern lives create these days is options overload. Good for the Google, but is it good for our souls? Is it good for our own ability to do what's great, not just what's good?
In light of that, more than ever it's helpful to create your own "step back" time. Take time to ponder and ask some key questions in order to weed out the "good" and get to the "great." Take just 5 minutes today, and answer these questions. I guarantee, it will positively change your day for the good.
So grab a pen. (if you still own one!) Write what comes to mind.
What's important about today?
What must be done?
What am I uniquely able, gifted or called to do?
If God were sitting right here with me, what would He recommend I do? Why?
What will I be glad I did today one year from now?
Answer those.. AND DON'T FORGET TO HAVE FUN TODAY!
